Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a whole school framework which helps schools to create positive learning environments. Our school values guide the behaviour of everyone in our school - staff, students, parents and community members.
At Sorrento Primary School, we strive to BE TRUE. We do this by ensuring that we:
- Be Tolerant
- Be Respectful
- Be United
- Be Excellent
PBS works to establish a climate in which appropriate behaviour is the norm. This occurs through the use of proactive strategies and the explicit teaching of behavioural expectations. Data is collected to assess the types of behaviour, the need for change and the effects of the intervention. Systems are created within the school that ensure that the interventions are implemented consistently and that the change is sustainable.
Staff members from different areas across the school have come together as a team to work on this fantastic program. The entire staff at Sorrento Primary School are committed and involved in the design and implementation of PBS.
Our Behaviour Expectation Matrix, which has been developed collaboratively by the staff, students and community, articulates what these expectations look like in everyday school life.
